WIAW: When Melted Chocolate is the Worst Part of your Day

Another Wednesday, another chance to share my meals from the day.

But first, I’m happy to say that so far I am really enjoying studying for my NASM certification. While there’s so much to learn, the information is so interesting to me that sometimes it doesn’t even feel like I’m studying!

My head is about to burst with new workouts I want to try. Check out this new workout, which really illustrate my whole POV when it comes to fitness: “Fit Fitness into your life” and not the other way around. (Please ignore the mess in this picture)

Pull...then squat!

Pull…then squat!

After i got home yesterday, Cole was feeling a bit rambunctious and kept following me around with toys. He was pulling so hard trying to get the toy back that I actually had to plant my feet to keep from falling over.

So, I decided to squat. Pull toy 3 times and squat for one minute (unless dog gives up) Doggie Play Time Exercises, coming to a gym near you.

But, it’s WIAW, so let’s talk eats. For breakfast, overnight oats made a triumphant return to my life last night, and the BF even requested that I make a jar for him.

On Monday night, I filled 2 mason jars with about 1/4 cup oats, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/4 cup dry figs, 1/2 banana 2tbsp of PB2 and some cinnamon. The result?

Open up!

A sweet, creamy and delicious breakfast that definitely gave me fuel for a few hours. I’m not sure the BF was quite as big of a fan, but what can ya do?

Post-breakfast, I headed out for a quick 3 mile jog with Cole. He was a little upset that I had forgotten National Dog Day on Monday, so I felt like I needed to show him some extra TLC.

Sorry puppy. We are BAD parents.

As soon as we got back, I headed to the gym for a BodyCombat class. This is the last week for the current release, so I wanted to try to get in one more class. For the next month, the instructors will teach a mix of previous releases and then move onto the next. I enjoyed the tracks from this particular release, so I’m going to miss it!

Cupcake Thank You Notes!

Cupcake Thank You Notes!

After the gym, I needed to finish up a couple thank you notes for my 30th bday, so I wrote while snacking on a banana and coconut water. While I don’t drink coconut water very often, every time I do, I find it to be so refreshing!

By the time lunch rolled around, I was really craving the Whole Foods salad bar. Sadly, as I’ve mentioned before, there are no Whole Foods or Trader Joes in my area. Luckily, the local grocery store, Adams Fairacre Farms, has a decent salad bar. They also have a candy store directly next to the product…but it’s not like that influenced my decision.

You bet I finished this giant salad.

You bet I finished this giant salad.

I ate while I worked and enjoyed a gigantic salad, packed with fresh veggies, olives and even a little guacamole. Of course, I just had to pick up some candy to snack on for the rest of the afternoon. But, when I opened it after sitting outside for 20 minutes, here is what I found.

Hot candy mess.

Hot candy mess.

Melted chocolate on top of gummy fish. The other major problem is that I thought “gummy fish” were Swedish Fish. But NO, my friends, if ever you find yourself at a candy store and the label reads “gummy fish,” do not expect that the candy people made a labeling mistake.

Anyway, I decided if melted chocolate and misconstrued gummy fish were the worst part of my day, then clearly I was doing pretty well!

Later in the afternoon, I studied for NASM a couple of hours. I’m trying to following their 75 day study plan, and, so far so good. I just had to eat a petite scone and drink some Passion Tea as I studied, of course.

The best study buddies!

Yesterday was our German Friends last night in America, so we decided to have dinner on the river together. Of course, I had to snack right before dinner, one of my habits that the BF loves.

Vegetable Medley!

Vegetable Medley!

Hey, at least I snacked no veggies. The vegetable medley included cherry tomatoes, fresh corn (roasted Monday), mushrooms, a bit of mozzarella cheese and some salsa/greek yogurt to bind it all together. It did the trick of tiding me over until dinner.

At 7:00, we headed to the riverfront for dinner at Cena 2000, a local Italian spot that always seems to be crowded and has a huge deck on the river. The BF concentrated intensely as he tried to decide what wine to order for the table.

So many choices. What's a guy to do?

So many choices. What’s a guy to do?

We settled upon a Pinot Noir and then clinked our glasses saying, “Prost!” (the German word for “Cheers!”)

Prost!

Prost!

Appetizers included a tuna tartare wrapped in smoked salmon

Fishy!

Fishy!

And avocado stuffed with snapped and other delicious foods.

More fishy!

More fishy!

I am not really a fan of the tuna tartare at this place for some reason. I’m sure that it is cooked well, but for some reason, I just hate the taste of it. Everyone else enjoyed it though!

As we ate, it became dark, and I got blogger anxiety that I wouldn’t be able to get any good group shots.

Phew got it!

Phew got it!

Then, it was time for dinner, in which I had a seafood soup.

I can never eat enough seafood ya'll.

I can never eat enough seafood ya’ll.

Dinner was absolutely delicious, and I also enjoyed nibbling on the BF’s fresh gnocchi and Sandra’s black pasta with lobster. Sharing is caring, my friends.

The gentleman decided to order another drink, but the ladies decided we were ready for something sweet in the form of tiramisu.

Get in my belly.

Get in my belly.

Since I don’t eat this Italian dessert very often, I’m not sure what it’s supposed to taste like. But, this was delicious! Moist cake with hints of espresso and cream. How can you go wrong? I would definitely go back to this place just to get the tiramisu and drink a glass of wine.

Although this old-timer was ready to hit the hay, it was our friends’ last night, so we stayed out for a couple more drinks on the river. It just so happened to be “country night” at the bar, so I was one happy gal listening to my country music and watching some line dancing.

Step, step, step 2 3.

Step, step, step 2 3.

Can’t think of a better way for our friends to cap off their America trip than with some good ol’ fashioned country music! Hopefully, we can hop across “the pond” to Germany to visit them as well!

YOUR TURN:

Swedish Fish or Gummies – preference?

Ever had Tiramisu? Favorite dessert?

What country do you hope to visit one day?

9 Thoughts on “WIAW: When Melted Chocolate is the Worst Part of your Day

  1. Favorite dessert – creme brulee!!! 🙂

  2. That Italian looks delicious! Not at all what you typically find in Texas. I’ll have to remember to find an awesome Italian place next time I travel!
The picture of you and your dog CRACKS me up! haha

    • He’s a little stinker thats for sure 🙂 Yes, being from Omaha, I have to say, I was shocked at how the Italian food there compares to here. It’s just not real Italian!

  3. So Jamie…why are you lying and pretending you are squatting in that picture? We all know that you are actually twerking 😉

Definitely gummys for the win- one time I left a package in my glovebox and it melted and made one huge gummy- best ever.

I love tirimisu, but one which is extra strong from the coffee! Great meals, I’m with you on the seafood loving!

  4. That picture of Cole is priceless. Really, though, how could you forget about National Dog Day?!
Fun coincidence you hope to go to Germany while I’m keeping my fingers crossed I’ll be able to visit the US in the not too far future. Let’s switch places ;).

  5. We appreciate you almost every other insightful web-site. The spot in addition may possibly I am getting which sort of details coded in such a ideal way? For sale project that we are at the moment managing with, and i have recently been at the peek available intended for similarly info.
